WHY NUMBER PUZZLES
Number puzzles work in any language. A Sudoku is the same puzzle whether you're in Tokyo, São Paulo, or Nairobi. No words. Nothing cultural blocking the path. Pure logic — readable to anyone.
That's the first principle GridJoy is built on: a puzzle game that's genuinely universal. Not "translated into 40 languages" universal — actually wordless universal.
The second principle: depth. Not one puzzle type dressed up 18 ways — 18 genuinely different ways of thinking. Sudoku teaches row-column elimination. Kakuro teaches sum decomposition. Hitori teaches graph connectivity. Each one builds a distinct mental muscle.
THE GHOST IDEA
Most puzzle apps are anonymous. You play, you leave. There's no sense of a player — just a score counter and a leaderboard rank.
GridJoy gives every player a ghost companion. It watches your gameplay, reacts when you stall, celebrates milestones with you. As you earn Essence by solving puzzles, you spend it on cosmetics — hats, faces, halos, auras, backgrounds, body tints. 400+ cosmetics, billions of combinations. 100% cosmetic. A Diamond-tier solver with a plain ghost beats a Bronze-tier in a wizard hat every time.
Your ghost is your identity in the arena. When you challenge a friend, they see your ghost. When you top the daily leaderboard, they see your ghost. It's a companion, not branding.

GridJoy is a one-person project — TextualJoker, 2025–2026. No VC money. No team. No office.
Every puzzle type is hand-designed. Every difficulty tier is calibrated by hand. The ghost mascot was drawn on a Saturday afternoon and hasn't changed since. The generator runs on your device — no server, no account required to play.
It's free because it should be. The goal was never to extract money from people who love puzzle games. The goal was to make a puzzle app worth keeping on your phone — and to prove that "free" and "respectful" aren't opposites.
