CHANGELOG

Every update.

GridJoy ships continuously. Here's the full history, newest first.

v67 — Plain Speaking

Sep 2026
  • Boards draw what they mean — Killer Sudoku shows its 3×3 boxes again, Kakuro divides every clue square, and Shikaku outlines your rectangles.
  • The how-to-play guides match the boards — several taught marks, walls and colours that were never there.
  • Far less English in other languages — puzzle names, the Arena, your daily result and achievements now translate.
  • Resuming works properly — the card that reopens an unfinished puzzle shows your progress, and starting a puzzle no longer throws away one you had going.

v66 — First Steps

Sep 2026
  • You see your usual time before you start — picking a puzzle now shows your typical time for that tier.
  • A gentler way in — Kakuro's easiest tier starts with a few answers placed, and giving up early on an easier sudoku or kakuro offers you a few free squares.
  • Reminders work from your first session — and the weekly challenge no longer cuts off its countdown.

v65 — On the Board

Aug 2026
  • Your times stay on the leaderboards — a bad connection at the moment you finished could lose a daily, weekly or per-type record. Those are re-sent until they land, and missing per-type records are restored for you.
  • We can reply to your bug reports — in the app, once they are fixed.
  • Tablet layouts scale properly again — on larger screens.

v64 — No Guessing

Aug 2026
  • Every puzzle can be solved by reasoning — boards where the only way forward was a guess are gone. Sudoku, calcudoku, kakuro, killer sudoku and shikaku are each checked as they are made, and so is the shared daily.
  • Stuck near the end of a kakuro? — take free reveals on the way out instead of quitting. Marked honestly, so it stays off the leaderboard.
  • Calcudoku's first hint reads the cage maths — instead of saying “focus here”. Killer sudoku also loads faster.

v63

Aug 2026
  • Every how-to-play is correct now — eleven of the eighteen taught something the game never does, including cages that did not add up.
  • Your Haunt, Collections and Puzzle Stamps open before your first solve — rather than after it.
  • Mazes show where you can move next — and HINT reads the route you have actually walked.
  • A NEW filter finds types you have never opened — and every hint now speaks your language.

v62 — Ghost Board

Aug 2026
  • Your ghost stands on every leaderboard — hat, halo and colours, instead of a profile photo.
  • Countdown shows you the shortest path — and lets you replay the exact same grid to beat it.
  • Shared solve cards carry more of you — your aura, your scene, your mastery rank, and a star for a new best.
  • A dead end in a maze no longer costs your Perfect — hints now translate, and first-run screens feel warmer.

v61

Jul 2026
  • Every puzzle has exactly one answer — and any correct grid you finish counts, even if it is not the one we recorded.
  • Rematch a friend from a finished challenge — and your best times are now kept per difficulty.
  • Your ghost tries on something you own but never wear — tap it to go straight there and equip it.
  • A calm glow marks each solve — and a snowflake shows the streak freezes you are holding.

v60 — Puzzle Error Fixes

Jul 2026
  • Puzzle error fixes — this release has no archived note beyond its name, so nothing more is claimed for it here.

v59 — No Dead Ends

Jul 2026
  • A hint always moves you forward — a hint on the last cell now completes the puzzle, Countdown hints truly help, and maze hints guide you back when you're stuck. No dead ends.
  • Continue picks up exactly where you left off — your Shikaku rectangles and maze paths come back, not just the timer.
  • Clearer mistakes — your entries show in your accent colour, and a full board always shows precisely which cells are wrong.
  • Steadier across devices and sign-out — your XP, mastery, and streaks stay protected.

v58 — Clarity

Jul 2026
  • Faster welcome — an optional quick tutorial, pick a difficulty, and you're in. No forced ghost-naming; name yours anytime.
  • Spoken feedback with a screen reader — GridJoy now speaks check results, hints, level-ups, mastery ranks, sets, and streak milestones.
  • Easy Start badges on gentle puzzles — your ghost celebrates streaks, and a chip jumps from the daily to today's speed board.
  • Smoother & safer — signing in no longer risks your mastery, and shared cards now read in your language.

v57 — Ad-Free

Jul 2026
  • 100% ad-free, for good — no banners, no rewarded videos, no full-screen ads. Anywhere. Ever. The whole app is now yours, uninterrupted.
  • Nothing tracking you — the ad SDK is gone entirely, so GridJoy no longer uses an advertising ID. Privacy by default.
  • Your free daily Essence moved to Rituals — the free daily Essence top-up now lives on the Rituals screen, next to your Ghost Gift. Claim it there each day.
  • Lighter, faster install with the ad code removed.

v55 — Rituals

Jul 2026
  • Rituals — your daily puzzles now have one calm home, with an optional day-2 nudge when the next daily is ready.
  • Mastery moments & NEW badges — master a puzzle type and get a calm moment to mark it, and fresh shop unlocks now wear a "NEW" badge.
  • Sharper and more consistent — one name per puzzle type everywhere, with cleaner Calcudoku, Killer Sudoku, and Hex Maze symbols.
  • Your widget and shop ghosts always show their face, and puzzle tutorials are now translated.

v54 — Ad-Free Finish

Jul 2026
  • No ad when you finish — the full-screen ad after a puzzle is gone. Just you, the grid, and your ghost.
  • One daily for everyone — every player now gets the same daily puzzle, so times and streaks really compare. Re-share yours from the results card.
  • Prettier daily shares — your equipped scene now sits behind the share card.
  • Fixed a rare results-screen crash, tidier back navigation, and more menus translated.

v53 — Companion

Jul 2026
  • Your ghost gets to know you — over your first week it warms up day by day, and on day seven gives you a Kindred Glow aura to keep.
  • Share your daily result — a neat, spoiler-free grid to copy and paste to friends.
  • A ghost that cheers you on — your companion now reacts warmly when you fix a mistake or reach a milestone.
  • Clearer Inequality and Kakuro clues, fairer speed boards, and polish throughout.

v52 — Welcome

Jun 2026
  • A welcome gift — solve your very first puzzle and your ghost unlocks a Divine halo, with a little celebration to match.
  • Your ghost says hello — open the app on a new day and your companion greets you with a small wordless hello.
  • Auras are back — add a soft coloured glow to your ghost in the Bazaar.
  • Fixed a home-screen widget crash, smoother daily puzzles, and polish throughout.

v51 — Streak Milestones

Jun 2026
  • ✦ streak badge in the win banner — reach Day 7 or beyond and the win card shows your streak count highlighted in warm gold. A visible milestone moment right when you earn it.
  • Milestone badge on Personal Bests — once your streak hits Day 7, the Personal Bests strip marks it with a ✦ so the achievement is visible between solves.
  • Accurate milestone rewards — the streak milestone card on the daily hub now shows all four rewards: Day 7 (streak freeze + Dedicated hat), Day 14 (Devoted halo + second freeze), Day 30 (Relentless face), Day 100 (Immortal aura — the rarest cosmetic).

v50 — Archive Replay

Jun 2026
  • 7-day archive — missed a daily puzzle? Add ?date=YYYY-MM-DD to any daily URL to replay any puzzle from the last 7 days.
  • Archive navigation — the archive banner has ← prev-day, → next-day, and TODAY → links so you can step through the week in either direction without editing the URL.
  • Today's other puzzles — a cross-links panel at the bottom of every daily page lets you jump straight to any of the other 6 daily types in one tap.

v49 — Arena & Web Play

Jun 2026
  • Arena notifications — the app now pings you when a rival beats your daily time in the Arena. Tap to see who took your rank and beat it back.
  • Invite a friend — Settings now has a Share Invite button. One tap generates a personalised link to gridjoy.app. When your friend installs via that link, their install is attributed to you (full in-app referral rewards coming soon).
  • 4 more web dailies — Calcudoku, Hitori, Binary Puzzle (Takuzu), and Sumplete are now free to play in any browser, same as the Sudoku, Killer Sudoku, and Kakuro dailies already live at gridjoy.app/daily.
  • Yesterday's solutions — missed a puzzle? gridjoy.app/yesterdays-solutions shows the fully-solved grids for each daily type, updated every day.
  • Ghost customizer — gridjoy.app/ghost-customizer now has a Shuffle button (one tap, fully random ghost across all 160 hats, 88 faces, 115 halos, and 34 tints) and separate body + halo colour picks.

v48 — Saved Looks

Jun 2026
  • Saved Looks — dress your ghost, save the full outfit as a named Look, and switch between your favourites in a single tap. Looks sync across your devices via Firestore.
  • Living ghost — your companion now drifts through idle moods and small animations while you play. The ghost feels more like a companion and less like a static icon.
  • Win card sharing — beat a friend's challenge and share a clean victory card with your time.
  • 7 languages — the app now detects your device language and runs in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, or Portuguese. English fallback for all other languages.
  • Stability and performance improvements throughout.

v47 — Season Scenes

Jun 2026
  • Seasonal Haunt scenes — complete the Haunt event to unlock a backdrop, then set it behind your ghost in the Haunt diorama.
  • Shards renamed to Essence — a cleaner name for the currency you earn by solving puzzles. Your balance carries over untouched.
  • Fixed blank cosmetic thumbnails in the Bazaar — every hat, face, and halo previews correctly.
  • Stability and performance improvements throughout.

v46 — New Faces

May 2026
  • 115 new hand-drawn ghost faces — your companion is more expressive than ever.
  • Ghost now renders crisp and perfectly scaled on every screen, from leaderboard icons to the full hub hero.
  • Your ghost appears the moment you open the app — no more blank loading screen.
  • Stability and performance improvements throughout.

v45 — Analytics

May 2026
  • Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics wired natively — crash reports and usage data now flow to the developer so genuine issues get fixed faster.
  • Minor stability fixes from the v44 launch.

v44 — Fresh Look

May 2026
  • Full visual redesign — every screen rebuilt with a calmer, more premium feel. New typography and unified design language throughout.
  • New ghost mascot (v2) — the ghost was redrawn from scratch. Crisp at every size, with idle float and tap animations.
  • Bazaar try-on — preview any hat, face, halo, or tint live on your own ghost before spending Essence.
  • Unified puzzle controls — one shared number pad and hint button across all 18 puzzle types. No more layout surprises when switching types.
  • Leaderboards now show players' profile photos in rows and on the podium.
  • Sharper icons, smoother menus, and dozens of polish fixes.

  • XP and mastery system — the more you solve a puzzle type, the higher your mastery level for that type.

  • Google sign-in — sign in to sync your progress and appear on leaderboards.
  • Performance and rendering improvements throughout.
