Sudoku
The classic 9x9 logic grid
Sudoku is the classic number-placement puzzle played on a 9×9 grid.
OBJECTIVE
Fill every empty cell so each row, column, and 3×3 box contains the digits 1–9 exactly once.
RULES
- 1.Each row must contain 1–9 with no repeats.
- 2.Each column must contain 1–9 with no repeats.
- 3.Each bold-bordered 3×3 box must contain 1–9 with no repeats.
- 4.Pre-filled (clue) cells cannot be changed.
TIPS
- Start with rows, columns, or boxes that already have many numbers filled in.
- Use pencil notes to track possible candidates for tricky cells.
- Look for "naked singles" — cells where only one number is possible.

THE STORY
GridJoy is a one-person project. No VC. No team. Just a developer who believed puzzle games could be a nightly ritual rather than a compulsion loop — and built the one they actually wanted to play.
Every puzzle type is hand-tuned. Every difficulty tier calibrated by hand. The ghost was drawn on a Saturday afternoon. Free to download — because it should be.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions about GridJoy
- What is GridJoy?
- GridJoy is a free Android puzzle game featuring 18 number puzzle types — including Sudoku, Calcudoku, Kakuro, Killer Sudoku, and Hex Mazes. It comes with a ghost mascot companion that levels up as you solve puzzles, earn XP, and unlock cosmetics.
- What puzzle types are in GridJoy?
- GridJoy includes 18 puzzle types: Sudoku, Calcudoku, Kakuro, Killer Sudoku, Hex Mazes, Square Maze, Circular Maze, Skyscraper, Hitori, Takuzu (Binairo), Shikaku, Sumplete, Starlink, Inequality (Futoshiki), Number Crossword, Number Blocks, Countdown, and Mazes. Each type generates fresh puzzles across 5 difficulty tiers.
- Is GridJoy free to play?
- Yes. GridJoy is free to download and play, with no in-app purchases at all. All 18 puzzle types are unlocked from the start — no paywalls, no energy bars, no ads during puzzles. Optional rewarded videos earn you extra hints, daily gift recovery, and other bonuses. The two non-optional placements are a brief interstitial when you return to the hub after a long play session, and banners on lobby screens (Home, Library, Leaderboard) — never on a puzzle.
- What is Calcudoku?
- Calcudoku (also called KenKen) is a number puzzle where you fill a grid so each row and column contains each digit exactly once. Cells are grouped into cages showing a target number and arithmetic operator — the cells in each cage must produce that result using the given operation (+, −, ×, ÷).
- What is Kakuro?
- Kakuro is a number crossword puzzle where you fill white cells with digits 1–9 so that each horizontal or vertical run of cells sums to a clue shown in the adjacent black cell. No digit may repeat within a single run.
- What is Killer Sudoku?
- Killer Sudoku is Sudoku with an arithmetic layer. Place digits 1–9 so every row, column, and 3×3 box contains each digit once — but starting grids are empty. Instead of clue cells, dashed cages show target sums; the digits inside each cage must add up to that target without repeating within the cage.
- What is Hitori?
- Hitori (Japanese for 'alone') is a shading puzzle. Start with a grid pre-filled with numbers and shade some cells black so no number repeats in any row or column. Shaded cells cannot share an edge, and the remaining un-shaded cells must form a single connected region.
- What is Takuzu (Binairo)?
- Takuzu — also called Binairo or Tohu wa Vohu — is a binary logic puzzle. Fill each cell of an N×N grid with 0 or 1 so every row and column has equal counts of each digit, no three identical digits appear in a row, and no two rows (or columns) are identical.
- What is a Skyscraper puzzle?
- Skyscraper is a Latin-square puzzle with visibility clues. Place 'buildings' (digits 1–N) so each row and column contains every height once. Numbers around the grid edges count how many buildings are visible from that direction — taller buildings hide every shorter building behind them.
- Does GridJoy work offline?
- Yes. Puzzles work offline — they're generated on your device, no internet connection required. Progress syncs when you're online, but you can play anytime, anywhere without Wi-Fi.
- What is the ghost mascot in GridJoy?
- Every GridJoy player has a ghost companion that watches you solve puzzles and reacts to your moves. As you earn XP and level up, you unlock cosmetic items — hats, auras, halos, eye styles, body tints, and backgrounds — to customize your ghost. No two ghosts look alike.
- Is GridJoy available on iPhone or iPad?
- GridJoy is currently available on Android only. An iOS version is not available at this time. Download it free from the Google Play Store.
