How to play Number Blocks

Number Blocks is a target-sum logic puzzle. Every cell holds a digit from 1 to 9, and the numbers on the edges are goals: each row must add up to its number on the left, and each column to its number along the top. A few cells come pre-filled to get you started — the rest are yours to work out so every total lands exactly.

THE RULES

1. Fill every blank cell with a single digit from 1 to 9.
2. Each row must add up to its target on the left.
3. Each column must add up to its target along the top.
4. The pre-filled clue cells are fixed — build around them.

BEGINNER STRATEGY

• Finish the nearly-full lines first. A row or column with one blank left has only one digit that makes its total work.
• Watch the extremes. A small target with several blanks forces small digits; a large one forces large digits.
• Cross-check rows against columns. A digit that fixes a row also feeds the column running through it — solve where they meet.
• Use the live colour. A target turns green the moment its line is complete and correct, red if the sum is off.
