How to play Starlink

Starlink is a number-path puzzle. The grid holds every number from 1 upwards exactly once, and consecutive numbers must sit next to each other — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — so that 1, 2, 3… traces a single unbroken chain across the board. A few numbers are placed for you as anchors; the rest are yours to work out.

THE RULES

1. Fill every blank cell so the grid holds every number, each once.
2. Every number must touch the next one — up, down, sideways, or diagonally.
3. The pre-filled anchor cells are fixed — build the chain around them.

BEGINNER STRATEGY

• Bridge between anchors. When two anchors are a few numbers apart, the cells between them often have only one path that fits.
• Count the gaps. If 5 and 9 are placed, the 6-7-8 must fill a chain of touching cells linking them — that limits where they can go.
• Watch the corners and edges. Cells with fewer neighbours force the chain's hand.
• Use the live colour. A broken link or repeated number turns red the moment you place it.
