Binary Puzzle (also called Takuzu or Binairo) is a grid logic puzzle where every cell must be filled with a 0 or a 1. There are no arithmetic targets — just three simple rules that, taken together, force a unique solution.
THE THREE RULES
- No three in a row. You cannot place the same digit three or more times consecutively — neither horizontally nor vertically.
- Equal counts. Every row and every column must contain exactly the same number of 0s and 1s (half each).
- No duplicate rows or columns. Every row must be unique; every column must be unique.
BEGINNER STRATEGY
- Spot the forced cells first. Two consecutive same digits force the cells on both sides to be the opposite. Two same digits with one gap force the middle cell to be the opposite.
- Use the balance rule. When a row or column already has its full quota of 0s, every remaining empty cell must be 1 — and vice versa.
- Eliminate duplicate rows. If two incomplete rows are identical so far, they cannot be completed the same way — any remaining empty cell that would make them match must take the opposite value.
- Work the edges. A row with only one or two empty cells is almost always solvable by the balance rule alone.
